Fish Bank Indonesia Participates in the 2025 Voluntary National Review (VNR)

Fish Bank Indonesia is taking part in the preparation of the 2025 Voluntary National Review (VNR), an initiative led by Indonesia’s Ministry of National Development Planning (Bappenas). The VNR report will be presented during the High-Level Political Forum (HLPF) 2025, held from July 14–23 at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.

In this report, Fish Bank Indonesia contributed data and narratives from its community empowerment programs targeting fishermen and coastal communities in Ria Bomo Beach, Cungkingan Beach, and Teluk Pang Pang Kili-Kil in Banyuwangi Regency, East Java. Since its launch in 2019, the program has successfully rehabilitated marine ecosystems while developing Ria Bomo Beach as a marine ecotourism area. The initiative also promotes environmental sustainability by integrating zero energy waste principles, including the use of solar panels as a renewable energy source.

As one of only four countries in the world that consistently submits SDG progress reports, Indonesia continues to demonstrate global leadership in sustainable development. The 2025 VNR goes beyond showcasing achievements—it serves as a strategic declaration highlighting progress, challenges, and policy innovations in the implementation of the 2030 Agenda.

Through its participation in this report, Fish Bank Indonesia reaffirms its ongoing commitment to advancing the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 14, which focuses on the conservation and sustainable use of marine ecosystems.
