Fish Bank Indonesia Raih penghargaan program ekonomi terbaik skala provinsi tahun 2022

Forum Zakat (FOZ), as the central hub for Indonesia’s zakat movement, organized an event themed “Indonesia Giving Festival-Zakat Expo 2022.” The event, attended by various zakat organizations in Indonesia, was held over two days, from December 23-24, at Tennis Indoor Senayan, Central Jakarta.

The two-day event featured a range of activities, including an Expo of Empowerment Programs, Zakat Awards, talk shows, seminars, live donations, a Gebyar Sembako (staple food giveaway), and a food festival. Additionally, there were 55 booths showcasing programs from zakat management organizations that enlivened the event.

As explained by the Chairman of Forum Zakat (FOZ), Bambang Suherman, the event aimed to introduce the dynamics of the zakat movement to the general public and to a broader audience.

“There are two main objectives for holding this exhibition at the end of the year. First, to familiarize the public with zakat organizations, their products, and the amil (zakat managers) who are actively participating in the zakat movement. Second, this event allows zakat managers not only to meet and showcase surface-level information but also to understand each other’s products, measure effectiveness, and, hopefully, learn from one another,” said Bambang Suherman during his opening remarks at the Indonesia Giving Festival-Zakat Expo 2022 at Tennis Indoor Senayan on Friday, December 23, 2022, in a press release.

During the Zakat Awards 2022 ceremony at Tennis Indoor Senayan on Friday, December 23, 2022, Sinergi Foundation received the award for Best Economic Program in the provincial zakat management category. The awarded program was Sinergi Foundation’s Fishbank Indonesia (Maritime Empowered Indonesia Victorious) program.

The award was given to zakat management organizations that are members of Forum Zakat (FOZ) in Indonesia, which have played an active role in providing tangible contributions to community development and alleviating poverty through their Zakat, Infak, Sedekah, and Wakaf programs.

The awards were not limited to economic programs but also included categories such as social/humanitarian, education, health, and da’wah programs. These were divided into three categories: national, provincial, and city/regency levels.

Before being selected as award recipients, all zakat organizations underwent various assessment stages by the judges, including document evaluation, general substance assessment, and online presentations. The Sinergi Foundation also underwent the complete assessment process for its Fishbank Indonesia (Maritim Berdaya Indonesia Berjaya) program before finally being selected as an award recipient.

The Fishbank Indonesia (Maritim Berdaya Indonesia Berjaya) program is a fisherman empowerment initiative aimed at improving fishermen’s welfare through marine ecosystem conservation activities. The term Fishbank refers to fish houses designed from coconut fronds and bamboo, forming partitions similar to apartments.

The Fishbank Bamboo modules closely resemble underwater ecosystem habitats, consisting of partitions that protect fish eggs, larvae, and juveniles while serving as gathering places for various fish species.

The award serves as motivation and encouragement for the Sinergi Foundation to continue creating more beneficial programs for the broader community.

Although zakat contributions in Indonesia are still relatively small, it is hoped that with the presence of Sinergi Foundation and other zakat organizations under Forum Zakat (FOZ), there will be significant progress in poverty management in Indonesia and optimization of potential through various developed products.
